Liverpool took on Wolverhampton in a battle at Molineaux on a cold Saturday morning fixture. Liverpool lost to Wolves at Anfield earlier in the season. Liverpool were coming off a hard fought draw in the Merseyside derby, and Wolves lost in a 4-3 thriller against Man City last time out. The game started out with Wolves looking to lots of aerial balls, but Liverpool defended well. In the thrity fifth minute, Torres held the ball up well and laid it off for Poulsen, who picked out Meireles' fine run. The former Porto man slid a delightful square ball over to Torres who finished with class. Meireles and Torres combined well once again with Meireles' effort soaring just wide. Wolves came out the livelier in the second half, but an
amazing dipping volley from Raul Meireles made it 2-0 to the Reds. Wolves pressured Liverpool with tons of crosses but Liverpool defended valiantly. Jonjo Shelvey could have made it three, but his effort was struck over the bar. In the 90th minute, Liverpool got their reward as Torres blasted his second into the net on the counter attack. The Reds picked up the three points and their first win under Kenny Dalglish in a highly entertaining game.
